Moving Cinema Conference: Film education. Some proposals for our time

On the 13th and 14th of July, within the framework of Moving Cinema project, the Conference Film Education. Some proposals for our time is developed. It gathers more than 50 people committed to film and cultural education from around eleven countries (teachers, filmmakers, programmers, managers, head of institutions) to reflect on 'The School: Encounter and Springboard', 'Youth Participation in Cultural Life', 'The Experience of Creation' and 'The Bond with Cinema Auteurs'. Two days filled of generous reflections, sharing, mutual enrichment and deep and very powerful dialogues.

CinEd's presentation at the Institut français of Barcelona

On July the 12th A Bao A Qu presents CinEd’s project at the Institut français of Barcelona along with the Institut français of Paris, La Cinémathèque française, filmmaker and artistic director at Novos Cinemas, Ángel Santos, Institut Moisès Broggi’s teacher Fanny Figueras and her students Palmira Sabaté and Laia Vallespí, also students of Cinema en curs, Moving Cinema and CinEd participants in 2016-2017.

Attend the presentation more than 50 teachers, some of them participants in Cinema en curs or Filmoteca per a les escoles; institutions and organisations related to film education projects; and the rest of CinEd’s partners:  Os Filhos de Lumière (Portugal), GET – Cooperativa sociale (Italy), IhmeFilmi (Finland), ACFK (Czech Republic), Seven (Bulgaria), NexT (Romania) and Macondo (Romania).

CinEd screenings in Murcia, Asturias, Castilla y León and Galicia

In May and June, within the framework of CinEd's project, film sessions are organized at San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia), Pola de Somiedo (Asturias), Segovia (Castilla y León) and Betanzos (Galicia). Participants from the audiovisual and communication workshops from AFEMAR Salud Mentar Menor's centre, as well as students from CP Flórez Estrada, CEIP Fray Juan de la Cruz and the high school Francisco Aguiar discovered the films Rentrée des classes, Petite lumière, En construcción and The way I spent the end of the world.

New session of Pantalla Alternativa

On May 20th, Young Programmers UJAC (Unió Jove Alternativa Cinemàtica) organize a new session of film cycle Pantalla Alternativa at the Auditory of the cultural equipment Calàbria 66.

The session consists of the screening of the last film by Isaki Lacuesta and Isa Campo, 'The next skin' (2016), followed by an emotional dialogue with filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta who answers generously to the questions asked by young people from UJAC and attendees. They talk about the cinematographic work, the depth of field and the selection of optics, the locations and the expressive use of landscape, the actor's direction, the shots, the development of the screenplay, the co-direction with Isa Campo, the end...

The session is developed in the framework of European project Moving Cinema, lead by A Bao A Qu.

Screening of 'Il posto' in Pontevedra

On May 8th, within the framework of CinEd's project, students from IES Cacheiras (Teo) visit the Teatro Principal de Pontevedra to attend the screening of 'Il posto', by Ermanno Olmi.

In the following dialogue, they talk about the loss of innocence, the passage into adulthood and the passing of time. Also, a parallelism between the adult system and the experiences lived by the attending students, is established.

The session is organised by CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe, in collaboration with Novos Cinemas

Screenings of 'Il posto' in CGAI

On May 4th and 5th, secondary-school students visit the CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe to discover 'Il posto', by Italian filmmaker Ermanno Olmi.

During the dialogue following the screening, they talk about some of the most essential questions of the film: the fact of growing old, the transition into adulthood, the contrast between the countryside and the city, its sounds, noises and lights, the work with faces and the use of first shots, the reserved and shy character of Domenico, the final secuence...

The session, enrolled within the framework of CinEd's project, participate students from IES de Catabois (Ferrol), IES O Mosteirón (Sada), IES Rafael Dieste (A Coruña) and IES Ricardo Carballo Calero (Ferrol).

Moving Cinema collaborates with D'A – Festival de Cinema D'Autor de Barcelona

For the third consecutive year, Moving Cinema collaborates with D'A – Festival de Cinema D'Autor de Barcelona.

Young Programmers UJAC (Unió Jove Alternativa Cinemàtica) present 'Días color naranja', by Pablo Llorca, and conduct the dialogue with the filmmaker at the end of the screening.

Moreover, during the festival days, students from Institut Narcía Monturiol (Barcelona), Institut Bellvitge (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat), Institut Castellet (Sant Vicenç de Castellet), Institut Enric Borràs (Badalona), Institut La Sedeta (Barcelona), Institut Moisès Broggi (Barcelona), Institut Príncep de Girona (Barcelona) and Institut de Tremp (Tremp) attend as Young Spectators some screenings suggested by the festival, Moving Cinema and Cinema en curs.

The films suggested are: 'A cindade onde envelheço', by Marilia Rocha; 'Días color naranja', by Pablo Llorca; 'El futuro perfecto', by Nele Wohlatz; 'El ultimo verano', by Leire Apellaniz; 'Hermia & Helena', by Matías Piñeiro; and 'L'indomptée', by Caroline Deruas. In some cases, they have the chance to enjoy the dialogues with the filmmakers.

Screening of 'El espíritu de la colmena' in Mancha Real

On April 20th, within the framework of CinEd's project, students from IES Peña del Aguila of Mancha Real (Jaén) discover in big screen 'El espíritu de la colmena', by Víctor Erice.

After the screening, a dialogue is opened where they share their impressions about the film: they talk about the plot, the work with gazes and silences, the familiar relationships, the title and the end.

The session is developed in Cultural Centre Maestro José Luis Quero Juárez.

Screening of 'En construcción' in Pontevedra

Students from educative centres IES Poio (Poio) and IES Cacheiras (Teo) attend the Teatro Principal of Pontevedra to watch in big screen 'En construcción', by José Luis Guerin, included in the film collection CinEd.

During the following dialogue, a conversation starts around topics as the limits between documentary and fiction, the use of editing, the light and the day hours or the dialogues and the character's construction.

The session is organised by CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe along with Novos Cinemas – Festival de Cinema de Pontevedra.

CinEd meeting in Helsinki

Within the framework of CinEd's project, from April 3rd to 6th, it takes place in Helsinki a work session focused on the elaboration of materials and pedagogical proposals to accompany the new films that will be included in the collection this year: 'El verdugo', by Luis García Berlanga (Spain); 'Aniki Bobó', by Manoel de Oliveira (Portugal); and 'A man without a past', by Aki Kaurismäki (Finland). 

CinEd is a programme driven and coordinated in Spain by A Bao A Qu, lead by Institut français (Paris) in cooperation with La Cinémathèque française.

Screenings of 'En construcción' at CGAI

On March 23rd and 24th, within the framework of CinEd's project, students from IES Francisco Aguiar (Betanzos), IES Rafael Dieste (A Coruña), IES O Mosteirón (A Coruña) and IES de Catabois (Ferrol) visit the CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe to discover the film 'En construcción', by José Luis Guerin.

After the screening, a dialogue is opened around some of the essential questions of the film that continues at class with comments and impressions that are published on the project’s blog.

Start of Pantalla Alternativa 2016-2017 season

On March 18th takes place in the Auditori of community centre Calàbria 66, the first screening of Pantalla Alternativa 2016-2017 season, a cinema cycle programmed by Young Programmers UJAC (Unió Jove Alternativa Cinemàtica).

The session consists on a double programme of mid-length film 'Antoine et Colette', by François Truffaut (1962) and the last film by Jonás Trueba, 'La reconquista' (2016). After the screening, an interesting and rich dialogue take place with the filmmaker who speaks generously about the light and the colour of the film, the work with the actors, the sequence of the first kiss, the music or the wardrobe’s value.  

The session is developed within the framework of Moving Cinema's project.

CinEd's presentation

On March the 1st, European cooperation project CinEd is officially presented at Filmoteca española – Cine Doré. Take part of the act A Bao  A Qu; ICAA's director, Oscar Graefenhain; Instituto Cerrvantes culture director, Beatriz Hernanz; filmmakers José Luis Guerin and Jonás Trueba; teacher Fanny Figueras; and CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe educative programmes coordinator, Mónica García.

After the presentation, the film 'En construcción' is screened and it is followed by a dialogue with its director, José Luis Guerin, and students from Instituto Rey Pastor (Madrid), Colegio Montserrat – Orcasitas (Madrid) and Instituto Jimena Menéndez Pidal (Fuenlabrada), most of them participants of Cinema en curs's programme.

CinEd is a project driven and coordinated in Spain by A Bao A Qu and lead by Institut français (Paris), in cooperation with La Cinémathèque française. It is cofounded by MEDIA Creative Europe's programme and, in Spain, counts with the support of Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deportes, ICAA and Instituto Cervantes.

Moving Cinema meeting

From February 14th to 17th, it is celebrated in Lisbon the second Moving Cinema meeting of 2016-2017. The project is evaluated, some experiences are shared, new objectives, defined and a working session on Inside Cinema is developed. The platform will be presented during July's conference in Barcelona.

Take part of the meeting, A Bao A Qu –project's leader-, Meno Avilys (Lithuania), Os Filhos de Lumière (Portugal), Centre for the Moving Image (Edinburgh), British Film Institute (Great Britain) and Kijufi (Germany).

CinEd training in Galicia

On February 8th, within the framework of Plan Proxecta, the second CinEd training for teachers is carried out, in collaboration with CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe and Novos Cinemas – Festival de Cinema de Pontevedra.

Work experiences are shared, screening methodologies are suggested and 'En construcción', by José Luis Guerin, and 'Il posto', by Ermanno Olmi, are analized in depth; both films are included in the programming proposed the seventh high-schools participating.

CinEd meeting in Bari

From February 1st to 4th, it is celebrated in Bari (Italy) the second CinEd meeting of this year 2016-2017. The project is evaluated, some experiences are shared and new objectives for the next edition 2017-2018 are defined.

Screening of 'El espíritu de la colmena' in CGAI

On January 20th, within the framework of CinEd's project, secondary-school students discover in big screen the film 'El espíritu de la colmena', by Víctor Erice in CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe.

In the dialogue following the screening, they talk about topics such as the lyrical aspect of the film, the editing, the pass of time or the documentary characteristic of the images. They also talk about the light, refering to some texts by Luís Cuadrado and Teo Escamilla, cinematographs of the film, where it is mentioned their references to Veermer and Rembrandt.

Screenings of 'Pierrot le fou' in Galicia

Within the framework of CinEd's project, on January 12th and 13th, students from seven secondary schools in Galicia visit CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe (A Coruña) and the Teatro Principal of Pontevedra to discover the film 'Pierrot le fou', by Jean-Luc Godard.

After the screenings, they participate in a dialogue where they express and share impressions and reflections about some of the film's particularities: the looks at the camera, the colours, the literary references, the editing discontinuity, the relation with genres, the political and social dimension...

The sessions are organized by CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe, in collaboration with Novos Cinemas – Festival de Cinema de Pontevedra

CinEd training for teachers in Galicia

On the 18th November, CinEd’s first teachers training takes place in Galicia, in collaboration with CGAI – Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe. The project is introduced, some screening methodologies are suggested and 'Pierrot le fou' by Jean-Luc Godard is analysed in depth. It is the film with which will start a programming for the students from the 6 high-schools participating.

AYUDA PARA LA CONTRATACIÓN EN PRÁCTICAS DE JÓVENES

Since November 2016 and until May 2017, A Bao A Qu is an association beneficiary of the grant for hiring, as interns, young people participating on the Catalan programme ‘Young Guarantee’. The work contract is carried out according to the conditions established by the Order TSF/213/2016 of August the 1st, co-financed by the Ocupació Juvenil initiative of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal, and the European Social Founds 2014-2020, with the co-financing of the 91,89€.

Moving Cinema collaborates with L'Alternativa

For the third consecutive year, L’Alternativa collaborates with Moving Cinema and Cinema en curs. Students from Institut Moisès Broggi (Barcelona), Institut La Sedeta (Barcelona) and Institut Castellet (Sant Vicenç de Castellet) attend different screenings as Young Spectators. The films suggested are: ‘La substància’ by Lluís Galter, filmmaker from the Cinema en curs team; ‘Paula’ by Eugenio Canevari; and ‘Tempestad’ by Tatiana Huezo.

SEFF 2016: YOUNG PROGRAMMERS, YOUNG SPECTATORS

For the second consecutive year, Moving Cinema collaborates with the Seville European Film Festival. The Young Programmers present 'L’indomptée', by Caroline Deruas, and conduct the dialogue after the film with the filmmaker. They chose the movie among a selection of films.

Moreover, during the festival Young Spectators from nine high-schools from Seville attend the screenings of nine films and, in some cases, they have the occasion to enjoy the dialogue with the filmmakers. The films suggested for the Young Spectators are: 'La Belle Dormant' by Ado Arrietta, 'Días Color Naranja' by Pablo Llorca, 'Fiore' by Claudio Giovannesi, 'L’indomptée' by Caroline Deruas, 'La mano invisible' by David Macián, 'La substància” by Lluís Galter, 'Mimosas' by Oliver Laxe, 'Mister Universo' by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel and 'Paradise! Paradise!' by Kurdwin Ayub.

III Edition of Moving Cinema 2016-2017

For the third consecutive year we develop Moving Cinema with the support of MEDIA Creative Europe. The project promotes the exploration, value and evaluation of the European cinema by young people and contributes to their autonomous access to movie theatres and film festivals. In 2016-2017, along with A Bao A Qu –project’s leader- Moving Cinema is carried out by Meno Avilys(Lithuania), Os Filhos de Lumière (Portugal), the Centre for the Moving Image (Scotland), Kijufi (Germany) and the British Film Institute (Great Britain).

CinEd meeting

From the 5th to the 8th of October the first encounter from the second edition of CinEd’s Project takes place in Paris. CinEd is an educative program of European cinema for young people structured around a collection of European films available for their screening at no cost on the educative area. The project is lead by Institut français in collaboration with the Cinémathèque française, and participate associations from eight countries: A Bao A QuACFK (Czech Republic), GET – Cooperativa sociale (Italy), IhmeFilmi (Finland), Macondo (Rumania), NexT (Rumania), Os Filhos de Lumière (Portugal) and SEVEN (Bulgaria).

The project is co-financed by MEDIA – Creative Europe program and, in Spain, has the support of the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, the ICAA, and Instituto Cervantes.

Primeras proyecciones y formaciones de CinEd

Durante las próximas semanas se realizaran las primeras proyecciones y formaciones de CinEd en Sant Vicenç de Castellet, A Coruña, Granada y Madrid. CinEd es un catalogo de películas europeas para proyecciones educativas no comerciales dirigidas a niños y jóvenes. Liderado por el Institut français (Paris) en la primera edición está integrado por nueve socios de siete países. A Bao A Qu es la entidad responsable de CinEd en España.

Entre los títulos del catalogo se incluyen por ejemplo, ‘El espíritu de la colmena’ (1973), de Víctor Erice, ‘En construcción’ (2001), de José Luis Guerin, ‘Pierrot le fou’ (1965), de Jean-Luc Godard, ‘Il posto’ (1961), de Ermanno Olmi, ‘O Sangue’ (1989), de Pedro Costa. Todas las películas se acompañan de materiales pedagógicos para una aproximación activa y creativa a las películas.

El viernes 17 de abril a las 19h30 tiene lugar la segunda sesión de Pantalla Alternativa, el ciclo de cine de autor programado por UJAC (Unió Jove Alternativa Cinemàtica).

La película escogida en esta ocasión es 'La promesse', de los belgas Jean-Pierre y Luc Dardenne (1996). Después de la proyección, hay un diálogo con los espectadores conducido por los miembros de UJAC y con la presencia del guionista y realizador Pep Garrido, gran conecedor de la obra de los Dardenne. 

La proyección tiene lugar en el Auditorio de Sant Martí (Placeta Angeleta Ferrer, 2 - Metro L2 Bac de Roda).

Pantalla Alternativa, es una iniciativa del Auditorio de Sant Martí y la asociación A Bao A Qu, que se enmarca en el contexto del proyecto europeo Moving Cinema, liderado por A Bao A Qu.

Primera proyección de Pantalla Alternativa

El viernes 13 de marzo tiene lugar la primera sesión de Pantalla Alternativa, ciclo de cine de autor programado por UJAC, grupo de jóvenes entre 15 y 19 años que desde ahora hasta finales de julio celebrarán una proyección cada mes en el Auditorio de Sant Martí.

La película escogida para iniciar el ciclo es 'Paranoid Park' de Gus Van Sant (2007) y asisten a la proyección unas ochenta de personas, sobre todo jóvenes.

La próxima sesión será el viernes 17 de abril. La actualidad del ciclo y de UJAC se puede seguir en Facebook.

Pantalla Alternativa es una iniciativa del Auditorio de Sant Martí i la asociación A Bao A Qu que se inscribe en el marco del proyector europeo Moving Cinema, liderado por A Bao A Qu.

Third Gruntvig project meeting in Barcelona

From 26th to 28th January, took place the third Grundtvig project meeting "Development and Implementation of Audiovisual Teaching Methodologies for Adult Educators". The seminar called "Filming Spaces: documentary workshop" was organized by A Bao A Qu and was held on the Fàbrica de Creació Fabra i Coats. During three days the participants from Germany (Moviemiento), Turkey (Katadrom), France (Kyrnea/Passeurs d’Images), and Catalonia worked together at the Fabra i Coats.

All the films will be available very soon on the web and Facebook of the project.

Cinema en curs y el festival L'Alternativa

En el marco del proyecto europeo Moving Cinema, se inicia la colaboración entre Cinema en curs y el Festival de Cinema Independent de Barcelona, L'Alternativa. Una de las actividades programadas es la asistencia de alumnos y ex-alumnos de  Cinema en curs a la proyección de Slimane, de José Alayón el 20 de noviembre por la tarde en el Teatre del Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. Son más de 70 los chicos y chicas que se apuntan a la proyección!

Otro eje de la colaboración son invitaciones para que 10 ex-alumnos de Cinema en curs puedan asistir a diferentes proyecciones del Festival.

encuentro Grundtvig en Estambul

Del 15 al 18 de Octubre se lleva a cabo en Estambul el segundo encuentro de trabajo de una asociación Grundtvig. A Bao A Qu participa conjuntamente con las entidades de Alemania (Moviemiento), Turquía (Katadrom) y Francia (Kyrnea/Passeurs d'Images). Durante el encuentro se organizan dos días de talleres y un tercero de puesta en común y conclusiones.

Moving Cinema

Del 6 al 8 d’octubre té lloc a Vilnius (Lituània) la primera trobada del projecte Moving Cinema, dedicat a l’elaboració de metodologies, estratègies i eines perquè nens i joves apreciïn els films europeus i esdevinguin espectadors actius. Moving Cinema, liderat per A Bao A Qu i desenvolupat conjuntament amb Meno Avilys (Lituània) i Os Filhos de Lumière (Portugal), rep el suport d'Europa Creativa MEDIA - Audience Development 2014-2015.

Exposició fotogràfica 'Descobrim Bordils a través de la fotografia i el cinema' i projecció d'una selecció de les peces audiovisuals 'Descobrim Bordils a través del cinema', realitzades en el marc del programa europeu Comenius Regio els cursos 2012-2013 i 2013-2014. Es projecten el següents films:

Descobrim Bordils: exposició 21 de juny de 2014

'Descobrim Bordils', una gran celebració del present i el passat, la memòria i la història, els espais naturals i socials, els vincles intergeneracionals, la descoberta, la paraula, l'escolta, l'estima, l'escola, el cinema i la fotografia. A l'escola, Cal Banter, el safareig, les pomeres, Can Baldiret, El Ban, Can Cua, Camí del Ban al riu, el riu, Can Cames, els viveristes, l'alzina, camí de l'alzina al Refugi, Refugi dels Guatlleros i el  el Casal.

Al bloc ja es poden veure les fotografies de l'exposició. Ben aviat, els 29 films on-line i una pel·lícula de la jornada!

El sábado 21 de junio en Bordils, en el marco del Comenius Regio, recorridos por exposiciones fotográficas y proyecciones de filmes realizados por niños y niñas de P3 a 6º de la Escuela de Bordils durante dos años de correspondencias con las Escolas José Alfonso de Moita (Portugal).

Las fotografías y filmes se podrán ver en quince espacios dels pueblo y se realizaran visitas comentadas y recorridos acompañados por los autores de las fotografías y filmes.

Encuentro a las 10h en la escuela para desayunar. Inicio de los recorridos guiados a las 10h30.

Segunda visita a Bordils

En el marco del programa europeo Comenius Regio Bordils-Moita, los días 20 y 21 de Enero cinco maestros del Agrupamento de Escolas José Afonso, representantes de la asociación Os Filhos de Lumière y un representante de la Câmara Municipal de Moita, participan en un encuentro de trabajo en Bordils.El curso 2013-2014 es el último de la asociación Comenius entre los dos municipios y durante el encuentro se definen las actividades finales que se llevaran a cabo en Moita y Bordils.

Encuentro Grundtvig en Barcelona

En el marco de una asociación Grundtvig, A Bao A Qu participa al primer encuentro de trabajo en Barcelona con las entidades de Alemania (Moviemiento), Turquía (Katadrom) y Francia (Kyrnea/Passeurs d'Images).

El proyecto lleva el título de "Development and Implementation of Audiovisual Teaching Methodologies for Adult Educators" y se llevará a cabo los cursos 2013-2014 y 2014-2015.

Segunda visita a Moita

Los días 28 y 29 de octubre nueve maestros de la Escuela de Bordils y una representación de la Asociación A Bao A Qu visitan el Agrupamento de Escolas José Afonso, en el marco del tercer encuentro de intercambio del programa europeo Comenius Regio. Durante las dos jornadas de trabajo se visitan la Escuela Básica de Alhos Vedros, la Escuela Básica de Alhos Vedros n º 2 y la Escuela José Afonso.
