Artists IN RESiDENCE
Since 2009, Artists IN RESiDENCE has offered a shared workspace for artists, students, and teachers in public secondary schools.
Throughout the school year and within school hours, artists from diverse disciplines and generations develop an artistic project of their own—one that is simultaneously fully shared with a group of secondary education (ESO) students, from initial ideation and research to final realization and presentation. The process is supported by a team of teachers alongside a curatorial, coordination, and mediation team.
The project pursues a three-fold objective through this direct contact between art and education:
- To enable young people to discover the processes of contemporary creation through constant contact and dialogue with an artist, encouraging them to reflect on art based on their own personal experience.
- To promote and generate situations and contexts that stimulate artistic and educational research and experimentation.
- To actively foster schools as vibrant spaces for culture, art, and critical thinking.
Artists IN RESiDENCE is a program run by Institut de Cultura de Barcelona and the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona, conceived in cooperation with Associació A Bao A Qu.
